Hello, Pickle;
I have read your warning and I think that it is not aimed at Dopey
Canadians. I do understand the paragraph and since I am not asking you
do to anything illegal, I feel that it does not apply to me. I am not
trying to do anything other than sort out the problem below. If this
question upsets you, toss it and me from your memory. If my e-mail
reaches you when you are in a good mood, I would appreciate any help you
may have.

I have a version of Wordperfect 3.5, which is my personal
favourite of the word processing programmes. I bought it years ago and
misplaced the registration card. I had the number written down but
whenever I tried to input it, the programme refused to accept it. It
still works, but with some frustrating problems. I just located the
registration card and found that I had copied the number incorrectly. I
re-installed from the original CD and used the correct number, but the
same problem occurred. Long story, I know, but my question is, can I use
Resedit or something similar to go into the programme and insert the
registration number?

Thanks in advance,
Jim from Victoria, Canada

In case you're wondering how to do what he's talking about, here's what I sent him back. WordPerfect 3.5e is now free for download:

<grin> You're already light-years ahead of most people who e-mail me.

Do yourself a favour and get the latest update to it for free from the link
in the FAQ in my .sig. If you need to put in a registration number, just
type "Free" and that *should* work. At least, I think that's what I did for
my girlfriend's Quadra 700 when I installed it on there...
