A number of years ago, I wrote a Perl script for translating Apple's Macintosh computer serial numbers into human-readable form. That script lives on the Serial Number Decoder page of this site.

It's quite clear — or ought to be — to visitors that this site is about Macintosh computers. In fact, the serial number decoder says, and I quote (excerpted for brevity):

Welcome to the pickle's Macintosh serial number decoder....If you run across an unsupported model, e-mail me with as much data as you know about the computer (model, model number, CPU speed, where it was made, when it was made, etc.)...I could also use a hand with other Mac accessories, particularly from the beige era. If you have keyboards, monitors, mice, or other accessories with a serial number, e-mail me as much data as you can about them and I'll see what I can do.

The page also contains a list titled "Supported Apple Hardware", which is a list of various models of Macintosh computers that the decoder will properly recognise.

I count reference to the words "Macintosh", "computer", and "Apple" at least 27 times on that page alone. Apparently all this isn't enough for a Mr. E. Keen, proud owner of a French Modele 1935S pistol (at least I think that's what it is), about which he thinks a computer serial number decoder page is going to give him information. Mr. Keen has also apparently never heard of Google, which is perhaps excusable, considering his kindergarten-level reading comprehension skills led him to believe this page would be useful to him in the first place. (Incidentally, the link at the beginning of this paragraph is the first search result for "Mac Modele 1935S", for which I award him the Just Fucking Google It Future User of the Day Award.)
